Supporting Adults with Forming and Maintaining Healthy Relationships

Presented by Taylor Smith, LPC

2 CEs

Synopsis:  This training will deepen clinical understanding of adult relational challenges including connection, belonging, and relational confidence by exploring how trauma histories, core beliefs, attachment patterns, and cognitive distortions influence clients’ ability to build and sustain meaningful relationships throughout adulthood.

Participants will gain practical tools to help clients reframe maladaptive beliefs, regulate emotions, strengthen boundaries, and increase engagement in healthy relationships; while identifying actionable strategies to expand opportunities for socialization and connection.

Objectives:

  • Identify and assess common relational barriers in adult clients
  • Apply Trauma-focused CBT interventions to help clients challenge distorted thinking, reframe negative core beliefs about self and relationships, and increase adaptive social behaviors.
  • Implement clinical strategies that increase clients’ opportunities for relationship building through intentional social exposure, values-based connection, and re-evaluation of current or past relational patterns.
