Part 2- What Social Workers and Practitioners Need to Know About the Challenges Facing Trans & LGBQ+ Folks Today

Presented by: Jaimie Hileman, Executive Director, Trans/LGBTQIA+ Cultural Competency Educator, Trans Education Service

3 CEs.  Meets state diversity requirement.

As those of you who attended Part 1 in August are already aware, we had more information than we had time to cover. So we've invited Jamie back for part 2 of her presentation.  Don't worry if you didn't get a chance to join us for part 1, she'll give a brief review then pick up where we left off.

Part 2 will emphasize creating affirming and inclusive practices, building resilience, allyship and advocacy.

Synopsis:

  • Who are the folks making up the Trans and Queer communities under the LGBTQ + Flag?

  • Background on challenges facing LGBTQ+ and Trans folks right now, nationally and in our region.

  • What does best practice and critical resource sharing look like?

  • What does success look like in care and advocacy?

  • What can social workers do to advocate and educate?
