Angela Skurtu presents Advanced Couples Counseling Techniques
This presentation will cover more advanced couples therapy techniques including some sex therapy information. Some common challenges couples face include problems with unhealthy conflict, infidelity, and sexual health issues. This training is welcome to beginners but will be more focused on clinicians who have been in practice for a while longer and would like to do a deep dive into couples therapy treatment. Some portion of the training will also discuss how compassion fatigue has affected many clinicians during the pandemic and impacted our work.
Objectives: 1) Clinicians will review and apply systemic concepts that are relevant to our couples work. 2) Clinicians will be given challenging case examples to discuss and explore in both small groups and the greater lecture. 3) Clinicians will be encouraged to explore how the pandemic has impacted their work and personal lives. We will discuss Counter-transference, compassion fatigue, and how the pandemic has shaped the way we offer couples counseling.
