This will include some basic theory of what leads individuals to consider suicide, reasons for living, general assessment of risk to suicide, crisis intervention, and more long-term interventions (once immediate crisis has been settled) toward helping individuals secure a reason to live/commitment to life and assistance to deal with common scenarios that lead to those kind of thoughts. This workshop will draw from theory related to best practice for suicide intervention as well as ideas consistent with DBT, solution focused and existentially-based interventions.
