Jennifer Gerlach, MSW, LMSW, is a mental health clinician at a community mental health center in the metro east. She is an advocate for self-determination, meaning-making and sharing of stories among individuals and families affected by mental health conditions.
When a person is facing a mental health crisis, seeking stability and safety rank high on the list of objectives. Still, once this is achieved, how does a person make sense of the experience and recover the roles, relationships, and sense of self that have been hit by this mental storm? In this workshop, we will explore these qualitative aspects of mental health recovery drawing both from the voices of the mental health recovery movement and existential approaches.
