2 CEs

This presentation explores how clients often respond to vulnerability with defensiveness, control, or anger—not as resistance, but as protection from shame and fear of disconnection. Clinicians will learn practical ways to help clients slow reactivity, separate identity from behavior, and take responsibility without self-condemnation. The focus is on strengthening clients’ capacity to tolerate discomfort, stay emotionally present, and move toward repair and connection in moments that would otherwise trigger control or deflection, supporting growth that is both compassionate and lasting.
